The car is very small but the inside is deceptively spacious. Rob is very comfortable driving and sitting in the back seat with lots of head room. The back cargo area is larger than it looks from the outside b/c the seats lean back. It gets 28/34 rated mpg and we'll be monitoring it for accuracy. This will be our daily carpool-commuter car and Rob's car when we can't drive together.
I know what most of you are going to say "There is no way that Rob walked into a Honda dealer," but alas it's true. The gas companies are to blame for such strange behavior. Our Durango has gone into hard core semi retirement because it's old and has very high miles and most of all: it gets very bad gas mileage. We are excited about our Honda Fit b/c it has one of the highest mileage ratings of any car sold in the US except for some of the hybrids (which cost way more so they don't make much sense for saving moeny), and it has great reliability. The Durango will be used for hauling larger items and for fun off-roading.
A problem we ran into is that car companies are trying to jack up the prices on these small cars because of the gas crisis. Shame on them for trying to profit from other's misfortunes!! Therefore, we cannot miss out on a opportunity to tell everyone that Carmax is jacking up their small car prices way above BB value and b/c they have a no haggle policy they will not reduce. While we can understand the business reason behind doing so, we don't approve of such tactics and we should all boycott Carmax!

Wait, WAIT, WAIT!!! There are two major things wrong with this post. If i recall many a conversation, i think the following two statements came from Rob's mouth, so much so, i'm comfortable using quotes: (1) "I'll never buy new.", and (2) "I'll never buy foreign".

The real villains here is the oil companies not Carmax. KBB isn't updated with today's markets needs so you can't really blame Carmax for trying to make a buck, i'd say their prices are pretty close to what KBB should be.
If you are going to boycott anyone it should be the oil companies...ride the bus or your bike.

I totaly hear what you're saying, random guy, whoever you are. Carmax has every right to charge more or less depending on what they think they can get for a car. We also have a right not to take it and spend out money elsewhere which is what we did. By getting this fuel efficient car we're, as a family, buying less than 1/2 of the fuel in a given week than we used to. If everyone hit those numbers then maybe gas prices would be forced to come down. If everyone doesn't buy a car from Carmax, maybe they won't charge as much for their cars! It's a free market and we're doing our best to influence it for the better. Feel free to come here to Houson and try to ride your bike to work in August or find a bus to ride and tell me how that works out for you...

Black isn't that bad as long as you have tinted windows and put up the sunshade in the front window during the day. The tinted windows really make a huge difference, should get that done ASAP - probably before you add the ricer muffler! :)
Just make sure that ricer muffler isnt too big so that joel could get his head stuck in it :P
I guess that Durango will be pretty tough to sell if you ever plan on doing so.
Tint is very much on the short list of upgrades. yeah, Jon, the Durango and it's 12mpg will be a hard sell but it's not costing me anything to sit in my driveway and be used only when needed. Besides, everyone needs a 4x4 sometimes.
