ULF1.1 Long Sim
What does that mean you ask? Well, the next Space Shuttle mission, scheduled for mid May, is called STS-121/ULF1.1. STS stands for Space Transportation System (aka the Space Shuttle) and 121 means it's 121st mission that has been planned. The ULF1.1 is the Space Station flight code which stands for Utility and Logistics Flight 1.1. Today we are starting a 36 hour training simulation to prepare for this next mission. We have the real Space Shuttle crew in the simulator and all of the real flight controllers are on console. Melissa is working this mission as a flight controller and I've been assigned as lead instructor for my group. I'm responsible for planning the simulation for my group and helping to run the simulator and evaluating how the crew and flight controllers do working the little problems we throw into their timelines. :) It's going to be a long couple of days, but it feels good to be getting close to flight again.

Whats the craziest problem you can throw at them- like an alien abduction??
Crazy? well... Most of the crazy stuff wouldn't sound to crazy to most folks. But we did play a case once where a "hacker" cracked into MCC and was sending random commands to the ISS. That was fun!
