Tour to Chichen-Itza

Or as the tour guide called, it, Chicken Pizza. Ok, anyway, on Friday we took the tour to this famous Mexican treasure. The city of Chichen-Itza was built by the Mayan civiliztion around 1100-1300 AD. The Mexican goverment has done a mostly good job of reconstructing parts of the ruins and leaving other parts as they were re-discovered in the mid 1800s. One of the neat things we found was that if you stand in certain places and clap or make a large sound the echo you hear can be very strange. Next to the large pyramid the echo of our claps would come back from the top of the pyramid sounding like a bird chirping. Very strange!

Rob at the swim up bar after we got back. The bus ride was 2.5 hours each way so we were ready to relax with a tasty beverage after that!
