Thunderstorm Warning

We knew that we would have storms today....
Woke up and it started raining with thunder and lighting. Then, it started to get really windy and rainy. Well, it was a bad storm.....

Joan, Denny and Jena were setup in the camper in the backyard and we got up to check if they were going to be ok. Our first thought was that they wouldn't get wet and should be okay. Then, Rob noticed that the top of the camper was swaying back and forth between the house and the fence. Then it was getting too much for our comfort level. Rob ran and to get everyone inside the house.

We had our first camper evacuation.

After the storm passed we went to assess the damage...
Our grill and patio furniture had all tipped over. The flag pole attached to the front of the house had broken off and was lying in a ditch.

The camper sustained some damage as well; the pole holding up one of the beds got bent (it's still able to hold the bed fabric up) and one third of the length of the poles that hold the roof up is slightly kinked. So, with these problems we decided to move the familys' belongings into the house and once the camper dries a little we are going to try to see if it will collapse back down to the driving config. We may need to send it in to the dealer to get fixed.

The other major damage was from our next door neighbor. She has a small pickup truck with a hard tonneau cover. The tonneau cover came unlatched and half snapped off, flew into the air and hit our roof/gutter and landed on edge against the fence. So, we have sustained damage to a few shingles and the gutter. This one was scary because that piece of tonneau cover could have flown over the fence and hit the camper. Well, as you all know, it would have flown through the camper fabric and possibly hurt one of the occupants.

Everyone is safe and sound.
