Camping at Martin Dies Jr. State Park
So on Sunday on our boat ride one of our objectives was to try to go upstream on the Angelina River. The US Army Corps of Engineers has some primative campgrounds you can stay on along the river and we wanted to scout them. So using the map in the first picture below I attempted to guide Scotty up the northeastern most bay of the lake towards the outlet of the river. We ran into a trouble when just on the north side of the campground we ran into a wall of cypress trees and water grass and flat out land! We ended up not getting very far and just fished instead. After getting home on the PC and looking at the satellite image of the area you can see the difference! We needed to be over near the west side of the lake to find the river channel. Man, the map version was very misleading.
Map that we were going off of... Not helpful!
